A boutique downtown gym, with warm Earthly tones and inspired by a feeling of sports nostalgia.
Located at the corner of 6th and Walnut, Pace 317 Fitness & Gym will bring small-scale fitness to the historic East Village of Des Moines. The design of the warm and welcoming interior draws from nostalgic images of American sports history. Together with the Heart of America Group design team, we created a space that aims to feel inviting, easygoing. A space where one feels comfortable at any level of personal fitness. We used tones of leather, oiled wood, exposed brick, a subtle use of few mirrors and dimmable lighting. Murals were created by Studio Blindspot and were treated to appear aged. Like the faded signs one still sees on some of the old warehouses from the early 1900’s, around East Village.
