An extension to futureproof the home, while drawing-in air, views and natural light from the garden.
Together with the residents of this home, Studio Memo is working on a futureproof renovation plan and extension, for this charming 1970 residence.
The free-standing house is located on a corner plot, and has an L-shaped ground floor layout. The red brickwork and tiled, pitched roof, along with linear elements along the roof’s trim, windows and rain gutter, are characteristic features for this style of Dutch residential architecture of the late 1970’s.
The backside of the house has large glass panes that open to a secluded garden. The futureproof renovation plan includes an extension on the ground floor, with glass sliding doors opening to the garden, a skylight, and slender, vertical windows on the front which complement the rhythm of the current street-facing façade.
